- in other words, we are connecting taste

History

Panesco sources and sells through its partners selected bakery products throughout Europe. With help from both sides of the industry, we specialise in Connecting Taste.

The company was founded in 1990 by Marc Messelis.

1990
Marc Messelis set up Panesco and created the company name by combining the essential parts of the business idea and combining them to form the name PANESCO. The name is derived from ‘bread (pane), ice (frozen) and company.

His 10 years of project experience with bakers’ yeast related to frozen dough processing convinced him that bakeries’ futures would soon be in the world of frozen goods. He started with the sales of mainly French specialities in the segment of traditional and industrial bakeries in Benelux.

1992
Panesco Europe is the first company to enter the Finnish market with a wide range of frozen specialities and established its first agency in Europe.

1995
Panesco organised its first international fair by participating in Anuga and laid the foundation of its agencies in The Netherlands and UK. The first Panesco catalogue was created and it presented the exceptional and highly daring range of specialities that became the successful start of an impressive and eye-catching series.

1998
Panesco took its first steps into Eastern Europe with a limited range of specialities mainly to service stations in Moscow.

1999
The first Scandinavian representation is acquired by the foundation of Panesco Denmark AS.

Fast growth, especially in European Food Service segment, forced the company to look for a larger and more efficient infrastructure. Panesco moved to Erpe Mere and succeeded with a successful integration in a new office complex, warehouse and a production unit for bake-off.  This growth has become a milestone in Panesco’s history.

2004
Panesco’s European network is further expanded. Agencies in Norway, Ireland and Hungary are established.

2005
The permanent availability of information becomes more crucial then ever. In order to carry out strategies in the most efficient way, a universal SAP system is implemented.

2006
Panesco opens its training and demo centre BBC ‘Bakery Competence Centre’: an information and inspiration platform where expertise can be shared. Panesco further strengthens its European network by establishing representation in Spain, Czech Republic, Germany and Sweden.
